Red Wedding Guide

Normally, cliches are frowned on when writing, but there are a few that are  completely apropos. For this particular post the old saying :you never get a chance to make a first impression, is the ultimate fit. Your invitations are your first impression.  A guest learns a lot from your invitation. The correct wording can say formal or informal. Red wedding invitations convey your color scheme and design. Depending on how renown the location is, the guests can know what to expect there as well. An invitation says quite a bit.

There is etiquette for wedding invitations, but really that is up to the bridal pair. Formal invitations would read with the presentation of the couple by the host. Meaning whoever pays for the wedding is who is introducing the couple. Then the day of the wedding and the date spelled out: sixth not 6th, two thousand and six not 2006, five o'clock not 5, in the evening not pm.

Typically your invitations will include an r.s.v.p, a save the date card and an envelope to send the r.s.v.p. For red wedding invitations you'll want to mix and match the colors on the envelopes and cards each, as not to overwhelm the color.
I'd suggest cream, ivory, black or gold, but silver and other colors can be exquisite too. You can have get handmade wedding invitations at many different shops and places and the artists do some extremely beautiful work.

Ebay has some a lot of wedding invitation makers, including the handmade and printed variety. The nice thing about eBay is you get to bid on your choices and there is a larger variety. But there are many places to find some beautiful red wedding invitations.

What if you want to make your own invitations? Well the lovely part about making your own is having the freedom to vary each invitation. However, remember that each invitation could take 10 -15 minutes to make which may require quite a few hours to do. There is a certain pride that comes with making some invitations on your own. Here is what you'll need:

Hard Backing Paper - a hard backed paper for the backing. Not too heavy, remember the cost of sending invites  increases if your invitation is too heavy, and you'll be adding embellishments to it which will add weight.

Light Cover Paper - A light or parchment type paper to put over the backing which will be used for writing or printing upon.

Adhesive - there is specialty paper adhesive you'll want to use. Avoid things like heavy glues as they can bubble the paper.

Embellishments - you can find lovely paper flowers or pressed flowers at craft stores (or cheaper online). Another great thing to look at is the scrapbooking section of stores. There are some incredible things you can do with the embellishments. For a really lovely red wedding invitation, you can add the specific flower you're using.

A Printer or Set of Pens - You'll want specific pens that will not bleed through the paper. I'd recommend printing, myself, but there are many other choices. Double check the pen that it has a fine or medium point.

Stencils or Stencil creator - If you're going to be writing each invitation, I recommend making stencils or buying the ones you want. There are many to choose from at local craft stores or online.

Remember that along with the invitations you'll want to consider your red wedding decorations and red wedding cakes. There are also the red wedding flowers to consider and all the red wedding bouquets; specifically you'll want to match the red bridesmaid dresses and red wedding dress.

I think these are a really contemporary and funky red wedding invitation with the stripes and bold color design. It's perfect for a red and black wedding that has a little more contemporary design. For me, I think of art deco styles with this invitation.
